To an extent I understand what the OP is saying, you wouldn't employ Brad Pitt to play Ghandi. Unless you were in the BBC, where historical dramas have black and mixed race people with English accents wandering around medieval Britain.
But in the case of Bond, it's not set back in the days of Flemmings original books anymore. It's set in contemporary times. Therefore I see no reason at all not to have a black James Bond.

No problem at all with a black James Bond. Not sure Idris Elba is right for the role though. John Boyega might be in the frame by the time they're ready to replace Daniel Craig, who I actually think did quite well. A definite improvement on Brosnan.
